Reaping the sowing (aka March of the Patriots)
Here’s a great story about patriots.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27955316/
68.9 billion in federal education for all fifty states. (http://www.ed.gov/about/overview/budget/index.html)
That’s roughly 1.38 billion dollars per state. There are approximately 56 million students in public and private schools. (Private schools you have to pay for by the way and so have their own source of funding in addition to the public funding mentioned above.)
That’s 1,230.36 dollars per student (on average. We all know it’s not an even distribution.) in this country for education. Twelve hundred dollars worth of education per year. Hmmm…. does that seem like a lot?
80 billion for one insurance company which by its very nature is profit motivated and only makes profit by extorting high fees from its clients or denying claims. (Don’t forget having insurance is mandatory if you own a house, car, or want access to health services. (not always for the health services. There is always the free clinic on Monroe Street.))
25 billion for three auto companies that drove themselves into the ground through greed and short-sightedness.
300 billion to a few select banks and other economic companies that are basically hoarding the money and another 400 billion still left to dole out.
Where are the priorities?
Apparently on bargains and sales and protecting those at the top with the work of those at the bottom.
Here’s a theory:
85 percent of any population is used to support the upper 5 percent.
“But that’s only 90 percent.” you may say. Very astute. (Twelve hundred dollars well spent I suppose.)
“What happened to the other ten percent?” Indeed.
Those are the forgotten class: the missing, the homeless and the very poor. They never count for anything other than political theater.
It’s crazy talk I know.
So here’s a pretty picture to take your mind off it all.

Cute as buttons*
